Kitten Room
Our kittens are raised in a bedroom of their own. They have a large nest box where they are born and spend their first few weeks. As soon as they are old enough to crawl out of the nest, they start exploring their room. They have cat trees and toys that are rotated to provide a fun environment for them (though they get lots of daily handling and interactive play time as well!). A window provides a view of trees, squirrels, and birds. The tops of the tall cabinets in the room allow mom a place to get a break from rambunctious kittens. At around 6-8 weeks old the kittens are given access to the main house. Rarely we have a few weeks of overlap between when a new litter is due and an older litter goes to their new homes and when this happens the new litter is born in our master bathroom and moved to the kitten room as soon as it becomes available.

Outdoor Enclosures
Each of our boys has their own outdoor enclosure. We wish they could also live in the main house, but male cats that are not neutered spray urine to mark their territory. The enclosures are large with heated houses for the winter, protection from the sun and rain, branches to scratch, and lots of entertainment from the birds and squirrels that live in the surrounding trees. The boys have a girl with them as much as is possible as well as playtime from us two-leggeds. We have an additional outdoor enclosure that is reserved for quarantine purposes or if we have a girl in heat who is not ready to be bred.

Main House
Most of our home is available for older kittens and moms that are either inbetween litters or newly pregnant. We have additional cat trees, toys, as well as comfy furniture for kitties to hang out. In the main house kittens get into mischief and learn how to be good family pets. They have tons of fun racing around the house, cuddling in our laps, and investigating everything. We have two spayed domestic longhair cats named Feather and Kitten (otherwise known as "The Fluffies") that help the kittens learn how to interact with other cats.
